A Snippet of Llansteffan Hall's Sporting Philosophy

Boxing Day Hunt - 2016

In 2004 Tony Blair made a bet with Prince of Wales. The Prince thought Labour’s proposed ban on foxhunting was absurd, and said as much, so Blair wagered that people would still be hunting after he had left office. “But how, if you’re going to ban it?” asked the Prince. “I don’t know,” said Blair, “but I’ll find a way.”

Thus started the most significant aberration of the country life way.  We, as a family - as champions and defenders of our traditions and beliefs, have and are fighting this imbecillic change in the law so that we may return to controlling the pests that hinder our stock and rid our tenants of their livelihood, in the most humane way possible : through hunting with hounds.

Since the Act of Entitlement in 1999, many hereditary peers such as my son, Tristram, and myself, are not permitted to represent the most overlooked people of Britain : the farmers, estate workers and landowners who form the rural backbone of this country, in The House of Lords.

Therefore, it is up to us to put pressure on The House of Commons through lobbying our local MPs to herald a reversion of the law.
